There is a good chance that you will first Amazon Prime membership has acquired to receive a free two-day shipping. But there are dozens of additional benefits that can be difficult to find – and given the cost of an annual membership, you don't do yourself a favor if you don't use all of them. What is Amazon Prime and how much does it cost? Amazon Prime is a premium membership at Amazon.com. If you have never had a membership, you can test these 30 days for free. This trial version is automatically extended. Therefore, set up a reminder on your phone for a new check and make sure you cancel if you do not want to continue your membership. Amazon Prime costs $139 per year. Instead, you can also pay $15 a month, but this will increase the membership costs to $ 180 a year, so you can save more money by an annual payment. Eighteen to 24-year-olds can get Prime for Young Adults (former Prime Student) which costs $69 per year or $7.50 per month after an extended six-month free trial. Prime for Young Adults has an exclusive cashback program that allows members to receive premiums for selected purchases. They usually earn about 5 percent, but some shopping events increase this rate. Finally, some customers are entitled to Prime Access, a favored prime membership that halves subscription costs. If you confirm that you receive qualified SNAP services or other state support, you can get Amazon Prime for $7 per month. Other Amazon-owned shops also offer prime members free and/or accelerated shipping, including ShopBop, Woot and Zappos. Some retailers offer “Border with Prime” at the checkout so you can complete a purchase via your Amazon account instead of registering for a new account. It seems to be an adventurous rather than an advantage, but could be attractive to some buyers. Prime members receive free Amazon Music Prime, which retrieves playlists and podcasts from a selection of 100 million songs and provides them free of charge. Members are also entitled to discounted subscriptions from Amazon Music Unlimited, a separate pick-and-play service such as Apple Music or Spotify, which offers on-demand access to 70 million songs. Usually it costs 13 US dollars a month, but prime members can get it for 12 US dollars a month. Prime Video is also included in your membership. Besides other movies and series, there are also some killer originals like Fallout and The Boys. You can also stream sports on Prime Video, including NFL Thursday Night Football and selected MMA fights. As a single subscription, Prime Video costs $9 per month. Also outside the Prime Day, Amazon Prime members are entitled to special membership discounts. You may be able to save a few dollars when buying a portable charger, use a voucher for important household items or find cheaper prices for new Amazon devices. Individual discounts vary, but we see these kinds of promotions quite often – and like at the Prime Day, not all of them are good. Lightning offers for early access

Both during and outside special events such as Prime Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Prime members get early access to selected Lightning Deals. You can buy 30 minutes before other customers. Whether lightning offers are worth your money is a completely different discussion, but it is an advantage that it is worth trying out. Delivery on Amazon Day

Are you overwhelmed by the sheer number of boxes in front of your door? (As a product reviewer, I honestly have the feeling.) With the delivery on Amazon Day you can plan all your deliveries so that they arrive at a specific weekday. Instead of hitting one or two cartons at once on several days, you can get all your orders on any day in a package. If you use the Amazon Day delivery, you are not bound to shipping. This means that if you order something quickly, you can still choose the fastest shipping method. The delivery on Amazon Day is a good way to reduce the whole extra carton (and your carbon footprint). No flush rewards

If you do not want your order to arrive immediately, you will sometimes see the option for free shipping without haste at the checkout. You may get a free digital credit that you can use for e-books or digital games, for example, or you will receive an immediate discount on your order. (You cannot select which of the two you receive.) Note that rewards sometimes fall after a certain period. Alexa+

Prime members receive free access to Alexa+, the latest version of the Amazon language assistant. It uses generic AI and costs $20 per month for non-prime members when leaving early access. According to Amazon, you can talk in a natural way, formulate inquiries as you want to get customized recommendations based on your preferences, create good-night stories and much more. Grubhub+

Amazon Prime members receive free access to Grubhub+, which includes the free delivery of some delivery orders as well as a range of exclusive prime discounts in a selection of restaurants throughout the year. Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods and Amazon Grocery

With Amazon Fresh you can order food via Amazon and deliver it to your front door. It is not available in all areas, but it is another type of shopping if you want to avoid personal trips. You will also receive a selection of Whole Foods products available through Amazon Fresh. If you are personally shopping at Whole Foods, you can scan the smartphone app to get an additional 10 percent discount on the entire store and use other member discounts that are available all year round. There is a separate Amazon Grocery subscription that costs $10 per month or $99 per year. If you have SNAP or EBT services, you can get 50 percent discount on the monthly schedule. With this subscription you will receive unlimited free food deliveries for orders over 25 USD or more at Whole Foods Market, Amazon Fresh and some local retailers. Amazon family

Amazon Family is a great way to share the benefits between several people who live together. You can share the membership benefits with up to two adults, four teenagers (aged 13 to 17 years ago, before April 2025 or after January 1, 2026, if available) and four children. Parents can use this advantage to approve orders from teenagers or to set up a childcare system for children's content. These benefits apply only to persons residing in the same residence. Prime members of Amazon First Reads can benefit every month. You will receive at least one Kindle Book from the selection for free. Non-members can purchase their two books for $2 per piece. Each month, Prime members are entitled to various rewards via Prime Gaming (formerly called Twitch Prime). With the free subscription you receive from Amazon Prime, you can support channels that you like – YouTubers earn some money with the subscription, but it doesn't cost you anything else. $10 discount on game preferences

This discount was much better earlier, but it is still worth taking a look at it when you are looking for a new video game. Occasionally, prime members can get $10 discount if they preorder a game. Authorized titles will be displayed here as soon as they are available. For some video games there is also a free delivery on publication day – just pay attention to this shipping option when you preorder a game. Unlimited online photo storage

Prime members get access to unlimited photo storage in full resolution as well as 5 gigabyte video storage. You can save, print and share photos with the Amazon Photos app and secure everything in the cloud. (The print is done via Shutterfly, where prime members receive 45 percent discount and free shipping for orders over 35 US dollars.) If your account ever loses the prime status, you will need to pay at least $2 per month to keep your photos and videos stored. Therefore, this should not be your primary security method. You may also want to consider one of these options. Reduced Amazon Kids+

Amazon Kids+ (formerly called FreeTime Unlimited) is the content service of Amazon for children. The service is with several iOS- Android- and Amazon devices like Fire tablets compatible. It offers numerous child protection functions and allows children to access age-appropriate programmes, books, games and the like. Amazon Kids+ costs $8 per month, but prime members can secure the subscription for $6 per month (or $79 or $48 per year). Fuel savings

By linking your Amazon Prime account to Earnify, a BP loyalty app, you can save at least 10 cents per gallon of fuel at over 7,500 participating petrol stations. Additional benefits for certain customers

Do you expect a new access to your family? Selected prime members can request a free Baby Registry Welcome Box by creating a registry that contains at least 10 unique items and purchases worth $10 (of them themselves or others). Learn more here. Prime RX offers selected customers discounts on prescription drugs. It is a recipe card that can be used nationwide in pharmacies, including Amazon Pharmacy. These savings programs are nothing new – a similar program is GoodRx – and you could argue that the transfer of Amazon information about your medicines further intensifies data protection concerns. However, the performance is free if you decide to use it, and it can be worthwhile to take a look at it if you pay a lot from your own pocket for prescription drugs. There is another health benefit called OneMedical, which offers needs-oriented treatment in colds, allergies, yeast infections or urinary tract infections. It costs $99 a year or $27 every three months. Amazon Key offers selected prime members the delivery to the garage. If you live in a eligible area and have an interest, you need to buy and install a smart garage kit. Amazon Key previously offered the delivery home, but this service is currently paused. (Of course, this also brings a number of data protection concerns.)

There are three different Amazon credit cards. These receive prime members in the form of premiums for selected purchases or for selected retailers. You do not need an Amazon credit card to use the prime benefits. In fact, I recommend that you read all available information and carefully weigh it before you choose a credit card or not.
