Android 17 Beta 4.1: Google Clearly Fixes Last Error Before Release

Authors

Actually, in April, Google said that the update to Android 17 Beta 4 was the “last planned beta” of the development cycle before the version was released as a stable version. With Beta 4.1, the group is a little surprising around the corner. Google also points out that some hardware partners already offer beta for some of their devices.

According to the release notes, the Android 17 Beta 4.1 update is quite small but is ready for installation for the Pixel 6 up to the devices of the new Pixel-10 series. The Build CP21.260330.011.A1 is designed for Pixel 6/Pro/a Pixel 7/Pro, while CP21.260330.011 is designed for all other pixel models.

Focus on bug fixes

With regard to innovations, Beta 4.1 contains only five small bug fixes, but no new features. The Group had the most important new features from Google’s point of view in the course of the Android Show: I/O Edition on 12. May shown – including the agentic AI Gemini Intelligence, which is only intended for high-end devices.

Google explains that with the now published update, it fixes a problem where the status bar incorrectly did not display a signal bar, although a connection existed. The developers have also fixed a problem with the UI synchronization, in which the symbol for the quick control of the mobile data remained active in flight mode.

In addition, there should be no more problems when connecting external displays – at least they should no longer become black when a high resolution is selected. Google has also fixed an error in Bluetooth audio transmission which, after system interruptions such as timers, led to an interruption in playback. In addition, hearing aids are no longer automatically removed from the coupled devices after inactivity or charging.

Android 17 Beta for “Partner Devices”

While Google offers its beta only for its pixel models, the Group draws attention to the fact that some hardware partners offer versions of the Android-17 beta for selected smartphones.

The partners include Honor, iQOO, Lenovo/Motorola, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Sharp, Vivo and Xiaomi. Interestingly, Google does not mention its close partner Samsung, although the group has launched its beta program on One UI 9 based on Android 17 for the Galaxy S26 series.

For interested and daring owners of one of the compatible models, Google has created an overview page that leads to the respective beta programs.

On the partners' websites, users will find instructions on how to install the Android-17 beta. Most offer system images for downloading and flashing, some additionally support over-the-air updates (OTA), such as Samsung via its own beta program.
