Anthropic becomes the most valuable AI start-up in the world

Anthropic has completed a financing round of over $65 billion and is now worth $965 billion. As a result, the evaluation has more than doubled since February.

The recent financing is supported by a long list of investors. The contribution includes $15 billion in previously promised investments, including $5 billion from Amazon. The storage and chip providers Samsung, Micron and SK Hynix also participate in the round as an infrastructure partner. The latter companies, driven by the high demand for AI storage, had recently reached a stock exchange value of more than one billion US dollars.

The fresh capital is to advance research into the safety and interpretability of AI models, provide additional computing capacity for the growing demand for Claude and support the development of products and partnerships, writes Anthropic.

Enterprise boom brings anthropic to capacity limits

The company recorded strong growth in the enterprise business over the past few months. More and more companies use Claude in everyday work, including tools such as Claude Code for software development.

At the last round of financing in February, Anthropic was still worth $380 billion. The current rating of 965 billion dollars is about 2.5 times as high as in February.

According to anthropic, the company has now reached a level of revenue, which corresponds to more than 47 billion US dollars a year. Compared with the beginning of the year, this would be more than a fivefold increase.

The strong demand for Claude recently made it clear that Anthropic has difficulties in providing enough computing power. The company had to slow down the use at times and distribute its capacities more specifically.

Stock exchange approach

In addition to anthropics, strong growth is likely to play a role in the level of the financing round and the great interest in investors. Reuters reports, based on investors and bankers, that Anthropic is preparing for a stock exchange listing that could take place this year.

According to reports, OpenAI is also traded as a candidate for an early exchange. In March, the company had completed a record financing of over USD 122 billion and was rated at $852 billion. This brand has now surpassed Anthropic with its new rating of 965 billion dollars.

The financial announcement coincided with the publication of Claude Opus 4.8. According to Anthropic, the new top model is intended to create programming tasks and to identify its own uncertainties more clearly. At the same time, Anthropic announced to make models of the particularly powerful myth class available for all customers in the coming weeks.
