On 5 June, according to Reuters sources, government officials in Trump and AI Inc. Anthropic The disputes that have lasted for months have shown signs of easing in some parts of the United States Government. At the moment, Anthropic is advancing the listing.
Relations broke down earlier this year. At that time, Anthropic refused to allow the United States Department of Defense to use its AI model for domestic surveillance and fully autonomous weapons systems. The United States Government subsequently resorted to retaliatory measures to include the company as a “supply chain risk” on the national security blacklist, which is expected to enter into force later this year.
However, relations between the two sides have improved since mid-April of this year when Dario Amodei visited the White House for the first time since the outbreak of the dispute to discuss cooperation between the two sides. Nevertheless, Anthropic still challenges the Government's “supply chain risk” determination.
Franklin Turner, a lawyer specializing in government contracts, stated that the United States Department of Defense was still “actively responding” to defend itself in the proceedings brought by Anthropic. He notes that the wider damage to the company ' s operations is unlikely to be mitigated until the dispute between the Ministry of Defence and Anthropic is resolved.
One of the major signs of a lessening of relations, while symbolic, is important. According to two sources, the White House had invited Amodei to attend the signing of the AI Executive Order scheduled for 21 May in Trump, but the event was cancelled because Trump did not like some of its provisions. Trump eventually signed the executive order on Tuesday. Anthropic issued a statement on X that he looked forward to “cooperating” with the White House to implement the Executive Order.
In addition, informed sources claim that Anthropic has held discussions with Sean Cailncros, the director of the United States National Network, on its most advanced AI system, Mythos, on how to protect critical infrastructure from AI-based cyberattacks. The company had previously warned that Mythos might increase the destructive power of such attacks.
As of the time of distribution, the White House spokesman had not responded to the question of the relationship between the Government and Anthropic. Anthropic news team refused to comment.
