Last Monday night, Scott Armstrong was proud when 60 anti-vaccinators squeezed into a dining area upstairs in Nashville Jonathan's Grille.

Several years ago, he was dismissed from his job as a drug and alcohol counselor for refusing vaccinations. There is now an influx of unvaccinating people from all over the country into sports bars to meet people like them. One woman flew from New Jersey and another from Philadelphia. One group drove over from Florida.

They were there to participate in a mix-up event sponsored by Unprojected, which was an anti-vaccination dating application, based on its website, “based on building a health-sensitive relationship”. This is the second stop of a four-city "Summer of Love" tour for single people against the Covid-19 vaccine.

“We are still one of the most persecuted in society”, Armstrong told the magazine Connect that he now owns a video production company and helped organize the event. “There is still absolute hatred for us and our belief in the health of nature. It's just that we continue to be encouraged to hold these gatherings.”

Repositioning around face-to-face activities to eliminate application fatigue is a major trend in dating applications that are trying to find new signs of life. According to Eventbrite, IRL dating has been increasing since 2025. As part of this year's rebranding, Tinder announced that he would invest in membership. However, single persons in the anti-vaccinating community say that for them these activities are intended to reach out to people (potential future partners) and, most importantly, that they believe in physical autonomy.

Other platforms include applications Unjabbed, NoVax.Singles, Unjuiced.Date, and Reddit-style dating and community websites (also known as Unjabbed.net), with membership in the United States and Europe. PureBlod.Dating operates like a social club and launched a street marketing campaign earlier this year to attract members by placing leaflets throughout San Francisco, urging people to register on their websites to receive notifications if they want to join “communities in which unvaccinated singles communicate with real on-site activities”.

“It is indeed a movement for freedom. This is not just an anti-vaccination campaign, says 32-year-old Unjected founder Shelby Hosana. "Whatever happens in you, whatever you do to your body, it's your choice."

It was designed for the new corona vaccine population, but according to its website, it targets all vaccinations. Members operate under the honorary system, although the application does provide an advanced level — “Unjected Verfied” — and they prove themselves unvaccinated by an affidavit. The incidence of disease in the United States is rising, and these diseases have largely been eliminated, as the Trump government weakens its vaccine policy and an increasing number of Americans opt out. According to recent reports, many vaccine-preventable killer diseases are again on the rise in the United States, including measles, pertussis, tuberculosis and various bacterial infections.

Despite Hosana ' s claim that Unjected was a pro-freedom movement, the expert stated that such acts posed a clear health risk.

“Preventable diseases of the vaccine are still spreading. Vaccine-preventable diseases still lead to suffering, hospitalization and death. Why are you putting yourself in danger? Paul Offit, a specialist in infectious diseases, Director of the Vaccine Education Centre and attending physician at the Philadelphia Children's Hospital, said: “To whom is the whole medical freedom movement free? Because when it comes to infectious diseases, it is certainly not free for those you contact.”

Unprojected’s four-city tour was originally planned to open the curtain at Reces Beer Garden in Denver. On 12 May, the application published a leaflet on its social media page announcing the tour, but, according to a statement issued on 13 May by Recess, the agency “has not organized, sponsored, authorized or booked” the event, but has learned about it through social media posts, “our site has been promoted without our knowledge or participation”. The beer garden stated that it had received “hostile statements” from anti-vaccinators, “including hate speech, online attacks, threats to our business, and harassment of employees not participating in the event”. The event was moved to another location and held on May 29th and attracted over 150 participants. The title of a comment in the Denver Post reads: “The anti-vaccinator has the opportunity to fall in love with those who do not know science.”

Subsequently, Hosana filed a civil discrimination suit against Reces before the District Court of Colorado, United States.

The application states in a statement on Facebook announcing the proceedings: “Persons who are not vaccinated shall enjoy the same rights and freedoms as others.” In addition to defamation charges, Hosana sought $4 million from the bar and its ownership group for alleged violations of his civil rights.

Reces did not respond to additional requests for comments.

Khosana believes that the strong public opposition is unfounded, because “even if, according to their own science, they are not vaccinated every six months, they are considered not to have been vaccinated, according to the standards of the CDC”. Although the six-monthly vaccinations apply to the initial doses of people in very special circumstances, including children, or to new crown-enriched vaccines for the elderly or the less functioning, this is not the standard rule for routine vaccinations.

In dating and in society at large, anti-vaccination has become an ideological battleground of tension. According to a survey conducted by the Pew Research Centre in 2022, 47 per cent of Americans indicated that it was at least to some extent important for dating application users to show their vaccination status. More importantly, the emergence of anti-vaccination dating platforms, the sociologist Jesse Garbino, who led the Tinder and Bumble studies, said, “reflects the growing prominence of political issues as a representative of broader values in dating”.

According to Hosana, however, Unprojected had a non-political mission and refused to accept that all anti-vaccinators were aligned with Trump.

Nevertheless, given that the Government under the leadership of Kennedy has fully accepted mistrust of science, it is difficult to avoid the association altogether. As previously reported in Connect, under the leadership of the United States Department of Health and Human Services, the agency has made “unprecedented changes” to its child immunization programme, eliminating long-standing recommendations for six vaccines, in addition to the reformulation of dietary guidelines and the introduction of reproductiveism directives.

“In my view, they are all guilty. Trump is the father of the vaccine. MAHA was a disaster," said Hossana, adding that it gave people the wrong idea of what Unjected meant. Unprojected is about to hold a mixed event in Boysi, Idaho, and Portland, Oregon. “We are not just right-wing lunatics. We believe that we have the right to make decisions for our own bodies without being bound by judgement or order. But we are portrayed as trying to put others at risk.”
