Authors

In 2026, most Internet users browse wirelessly using a Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E connection. Sometimes without even knowing it. Like all other standards before it, it will give way to the next one, in this case Wi-Fi 7.

And although there are already Internet boxes and routers compatible with Wi-Fi 7, they are still far from being adopted by the majority of users. No matter, Asus won't wait. The Taiwanese brand unveils the ROG Rapture GT-BN98 Pro router with support for Wi-Fi 8.

Asus ROG Rapture GT-BN98 Pro Wi-Fi 8 router promises lightning-fast connectivity

One thing is certain, Asus is getting there early. Certification of the standard will not be done before the end of 2027, or even the beginning of 2028. This does not prevent the ROG Rapture GT-BN98 Pro from already making the most demanding gamers dream with a maximum theoretical throughput of 30 Gb/s. Knowing that a good current Wi-Fi 7 router promises between 2 and 3 Gb/s.

The connectivity is not left out with two 10G ports and link aggregation of up to 20 Gb/s. To cool the device, a dedicated system with, among other things, an aluminum thermal plate with a nanocarbon coating.

Asus has not announced a price or release date for its Wi-Fi 8 router. No need to hurry as for the moment, no device accessible to an individual is compatible with it.
