Corsair releases a wood version of Frame 5000D and also sells front panels separately

Authors

Corsair also releases wooden panels for the 5000D and is also releasing a new version of that case with a wooden finish. The company previously did this for the 5000 series, but these new panels have vertical slats, comparable to, for example, the popular Fractal North. The wooden version also gets larger fans and only USB-C ports on the front.

Corsair says in a press release that it is releasing the Frame 5000D WOOD, a modified version of the existing, modular Frame 5000D from last year. This also includes technical adjustments. For example, there are now larger 200mm fans at the front. The earlier model still contained three 140mm fans.

It is also striking that the I/O panel on the front only has USB Type-C ports. These are two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C ports and a single USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C port. There is also a 3.5mm connection on the front.

Wooden aesthetics

But it is mainly the aesthetics of the new housing that stands out. The cabinet now has a wooden panel on the front, next to the glass side panel. That panel consists of vertical slats instead of a mesh grid like Corsair previously did.

Corsair also made such a release in 2023 with the then 4000 and 5000 series of cases. Back then the wooden finish still had a mesh grid. The new vertical slats are more reminiscent of, for example, the Fractal North, which is still one of the most popular cases in the Pricewatch.

Not only is Corsair selling a new version of the case, but users can also purchase the panels separately. These are now available in the webshop. The panels are available in white oak or dark walnut. The prices are not yet known. The older panels now cost 80 euros.
