Google Fitbit Air test: this screenless bracelet hides the best surprise of the year
Not content with offering its own straps in fabric, silicone or plastic to dress the module of its activity tracker, Google intends to allow third parties to design their own straps, whether they are accessories makers... or even individuals.
Recommendations for creating your own straps for the Fitbit Air
Indeed, as reported by the site 9to5Google, the manufacturer has put a dedicated page online to help anyone who wishes to design unique straps.
Very complete, the online page encourages Fitbit Air owners to take ownership of the sensor and make suitable straps:
The central device is an ultra-light sensor ensuring continuous health monitoring, making the bracelet the emblematic visual and tactile expression of the device. This architecture offers designers, brands and developers great freedom to design unique bracelets and cases, suitable for all styles and all occasions.
In addition, Google provides some advice for the design of these straps, indicating in particular that the cardio sensor must be positioned directly against the skin: “We recommend that the optical heart rate and SpO2 sensors located at the base of the tracker remain entirely clear and maintain direct, flush and constant contact with the skin”. In detail, Google recommends a minimum pressure level of 35 mmHg between the sensor and the skin.
Obviously, the firm also recommends using materials that cannot cause irritation or allergy problems for its bracelet.
Above all, Google not only provides recommendations, but also provides 2D plans of its sensor and the shell in which it must be housed. Enough to allow it to be easily printed in 3D by taking the precise dimensions and the force necessary to accommodate or detach it.
With all this data, there is no doubt that straps will multiply in the future to allow everyone to adapt the Fitbit Air according to their tastes or their current clothes.
