Gemini can now generate files, including Microsoft Word and LaTeX documents

Twins become more useful today. Google has started introducing an update that gives its chatbot the opportunity to generate files directly via the prompt bar. To use the new feature, you simply need to tell Gemini what you want (e.g. “create a budget”) and then tap the Export button to download the resulting output in the desired format.

The list of supported file formats includes PDF, TXT, RTF and CSV. Of course, Google Docs and Slides as well as Google Sheets supported. In addition to Markdown and LaTex files, Gemini can also create Microsoft Word documents and Excel tables. For Uneingeweihte: LaTeX is a set system for formatting scientific documents and journals. Nearly the entire scientific community is relying on LaTeX, and Google's decision to support the protocol is remarkable as OpenAI recently published Prism, a complete app dedicated to formatting LaTeX journals. “Instead of copying, inserting and formatting, you can easily move your work into other applications with this update,” says Google about the new feature. The company introduces it worldwide for all Gemini users, including those with individual workspace accounts. Google is not the first AI provider to provide more robust support for file exports. The Claude-Chatbot of Anthropic has been able to edit and generate files, including Excel tables, since September last year. However, if you often use Gemini, today's update should be a welcome addition.
