Gigabyte gives OLED monitors a 4-year burn-in warranty: years more than the competition

Authors

At Computex, Gigabyte will present five OLED monitors for gamers in the new Aorus Elite series. Two of these screens come with a four-year 'burn-in warranty'. That is one year longer than the usual three years for many brands.

The Aorus Elite series has a refreshed design. It comes in two variants; Models ending in -P have an extra stripe of RGB lighting across, but the 'regular' models also already have an RGB logo. The screens have Gigabytes HyperNits technology, which should provide a higher average brightness for HDR display. A new feature is the presence sensor in the lip under the monitor, which allows the screen to automatically turn off when you are not sitting in front of it. Brands such as MSI and ASUS already had that.

Aorus Elite FO27Q24G and FO27Q28G

The two screens with a longer warranty are the Aorus Elite FO27Q24G and FO27Q28G. The warranty only applies to defects other than burn-in for three years. The type numbers of these screens differ by only one letter and the difference comes down to the refresh rate: the -28G goes up to 280Hz, the -24G keeps it at 240Hz.

Both screens are equipped with a latest-generation tandem wool panel from LG with 2560x1440 pixels and a glossy coating, which Gigabyte calls 'RealBlack Glossy'. The screens offer the usual 1500cd/m² peak brightness.

Gigabyte expects to have the screens in stores at the beginning of the fourth quarter. The price of the FO27Q24G is expected to be $449, while the FO27Q28G will cost around $549. Euro prices are not yet known.

Aorus Elite FO32U24G and FO32U24GP

The Aorus Elite FO32U24G and FO32U24GP also differ little in product name and further design. In this case, the -P stands for premium, and that means a design with more pronounced RGB lighting. Connectivity gets an upgrade with full-bandwidth DisplayPort 2.1, while the regular model has to make do with DisplayPort 1.4.

The two 32" 4K screens are also equipped with a tandem WOLED panel. The refresh rate is 240Hz and they have a dual-mode function for 480Hz display at full HD resolution. A 1500cd/m² peak and a RealBlack Glossy coating are also present here. The burn-in warranty lasts for three years.

Gigabyte states that both screens should be released in the fourth quarter. Euro prices are not known, but the target price for the FO32U24G is $849 and for the FO32U24GP $949.

Aorus Elite FO27Q54G

Just like the other screens, the Aorus Elite FO27Q54G has a tandem WOLED panel from LG. This time it is the 27" variant with 2560x1440 pixels and 540Hz refresh rate, which can be increased to 720Hz with 1280x720 pixels via dual mode.

This screen has a 1500cd/m² peak brightness, a RealBlack Glossy coating and a three-year burn-in warranty. The monitor should be released in the fourth quarter; the target price is $799.
