Gigabyte shows 5k mini LED monitor with triple-mode function

Authors

After MSI, Gigabyte is also showing a monitor with triple mode at this Computex, the Aorus Elite FM275K16P. It is a 27" 5k screen with a glossy coating and mini LED backlight for good HDR. Gigabyte states that it wants to release it before the end of 2026.

MSI's triple-mode screen, the MPG OLED 322URDX36, is a completely different kind of screen: a 4k QD OLED monitor. Gigabyte, like MSI, does not show the function in practice. An employee states that the function does not yet work on the model shown on the exhibition floor.

The FM275K16P is a 27" 5k monitor (5120x2880 pixels) with an IPS LCD panel. Various brands already showed such a screen at CES, although most of them did not have a mini LED backlight. Just like the announced 5k screens that have this mini LED backlight, the Gigabyte monitor has 2304 dimming zones. The FM275K16P is said to offer a peak brightness of 1250cd/m² and has a VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification.

In addition to the mini LED backlight, the glossy coating is a fairly unique feature, and the triple-mode function has never even been seen before on a 5k screen. The competition can often switch between 5120x2880 at 180Hz and 2560x1440 at 330Hz. The FM275K16P can do that too and offers 3840x2160 at 220Hz as an extra intermediate step. Just like the LG UltraGear evo 27GM950B, the FM275K16P is also said to have a function for AI upscaling of images at a lower resolution.

The FM275K16P has DisplayPort 2.1 with 80Gbit/s bandwidth, two HDMI 2.1 ports and a USB-C port with 65W power delivery. Like other Aorus Elite screens, it has a back with RGB lighting, although the FM275K16P is of course thicker than the OLED screens in the series.

Gigabyte says on the show floor that they plan to actually release the FM275K16P before the end of 2026. The manufacturer aims for a price below $1000. There is no euro price yet.
