Google Chrome: Update closes 429 vulnerabilities

Authors

Who? Google Chrome used to surf the web should ensure that the update is installed this week: It closes 429 vulnerabilities, a new maximum. 22 are even classified as a critical risk.

In the meantime, Google the version announcement by the vulnerabilities that have been closed – for 429 entries, this obviously took some time. The most serious vulnerability allows read and write access outside the storage limits provided in the Angle component (Almost Native Graphics Layer Engine). This may lead to an outbreak from the sandbox (CVE-2026-10881, CVSS 9.6, risk ‘critical’). The $97,000 rewards the reporters of the gap, a remarkably high sum.

In addition to the 22 critical vulnerabilities, developers 87 are classified as a high-risk, 226 as a middle threat and 94 as a low risk for users. After all, Google does not mention that one or more of the security leaks are already being abused in free wild. Chrome 149.0.7827.59 for Android, 149.0.7827.53 for Linux and 149.0.7827.53/54 for macOS and Windows contain the numerous error corrections.

Updated software

The update comes to the computer by means of version dialog. To do this, open the browser menu and on “Hilfe” and there on “About “or “Info” click on some chromium based browsers. This displays the currently active software stand and downloads any updates available. Linux is usually responsible for the distribution software management. On mobile devices, on the other hand, users have to check in the respective app store, but the updates often arrive with a clear delay – an accelerated update cannot be enforced there, unfortunately.

As other browsers are based on chromium, they should also deliver an extensive update – for example Microsoft with the edge browser. Last week, Google had already upgraded a high level of vulnerabilities in Chrome, but there were 151 gaps.
