Google Drive: the organization of documents by Gemini is accessible to everyone, or almost

Authors

It’s practical, Google Drive. You can store all your documents there, but also create them on Docs, Sheets, Slides and others directly from the home page. Over time, the list of files grows, especially if you pay to exceed the free limit of 15 GB of storage.

Of course, you have created folders and subfolders, but there may come a time when your organization deserves a little overhaul. It is with this in mind that Google is launching the “Suggest file moves” function at the end of 2025. After 8 months of beta, it is coming out to be deployed to as many people as possible.

Who is eligible for Gemini's Google Drive file sorting feature?

As a reminder, the option lets Gemini analyze the content of your Drive to make suggestions. They are divided into two categories: on the one hand the files that the AI suggests you store in existing folders, on the other hand those that would be better to put in new folders created for the occasion.

As you can see in the screenshot used to illustrate this article, Gemini also suggests a name for these folders. For individuals, the feature is available if you have enabled smart features and controls for Google Workspace. Another condition: be a subscriber to Google AI Pro or Ultra. So pay, as with most Gemini-related options in Google apps.
