Presented at the last CES, the Samsung Music Studio 5 connected speaker is part of a brand new range that is unlike any other in the South Korean brand's catalog. Half speaker, half soundbar benefiting from the famous Q-Symphony technology and a 2.1 channel system, the Music Studio 5 is also distinguished by its refined appearance, the result of a collaboration with French designer Erwan Bouroullec. In short, a sophisticated model, but full of audio promise, which can currently be found for less than 300 euros.
The essential points of the Samsung Music Studio 5
- A speaker with an assertive and sophisticated design
- Dolby Atmos and Q-Symphony compatible
- A 2.1 channel system
Launched at 349 euros, the Samsung Music Studio 5 (HW-LS50H) speaker can currently cost you 299 euros at Boulanger thanks to an ODR of 50 euros valid until June 23, 2026.
A speaker that decorates the living room
With its sleek silhouette and rounded curves, the Samsung Music Studio 5, whose design was designed by Erwan Bouroullec, serves as much as a speaker as it does a sophisticated decorative object. Placed on a TV stand, or on a small coffee table, it should make an impression. It also has the advantage of being particularly compact (251 x 283.5 x 137 mm) and light (2.4 kg). On the connectivity side, you have an optical input and a USB port, but no HDMI ports.
Samsung has, however, gone all out on the connectivity part, with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, but also support for Spotify Connect, AirPlay and even Google Cast. The speaker is also equipped with the Spotify Tap function via Wi-Fi: double-tapping the device, for example, automatically launches a playlist. Note also that the speaker integrates Alexa and can work with Google Assistant. It's also compatible with SmartThings, obviously.
It can boost the sound of a TV
The Music Studio 5 is based on a 2.1 channel system: it has two tweeters and a 10 cm woofer. The manufacturer assures that it can deliver balanced sound with this configuration. The Music Studio 7, launched at the same time as it, still does better with its 3.1.1 channel architecture, thus offering more immersive height effects. The Music Studio 5 is fortunately compatible with Dolby Atmos, which allows it to offer a wider soundstage with virtual spatialization.
You also have the option of pairing two Music Studio 5s to enjoy even larger sound. The speaker also benefits from several technologies intended to optimize sound reproduction, such as AI Dynamic Bass Control, which would limit bass distortion at high volume. To see if this does not excessively color the sound. Above all, we will note the presence of Q-Symphony technology, which allows you to synchronize the speakers of a Samsung television with those of the speaker, which therefore connects to the television wirelessly.
