It offers an old-fashioned appearance, but modern performance and ease of use. I installed MX Linux XFCE-AHS as a virtual machine and it immediately impressed me. Remember that I've never been a big fan of the Xfce desktop environment, but MX Linux gives her a more modern look and feel, with a custom layout and a clear Conky configuration, the time/date and RAM/CPU- showing percentages of use. Simply put, everything revolves around new hardware. If you have a new PC and want to make sure that it works without adjustments with Linux, MX Linux AHS is just right for you. If you have concerns that Wi-Fi, sound or separate graphics (own graphics processors that work separately from the CPU) work properly, you can bet that newer hardware works immediately due to the combination of the Liquorix kernel, the latest MESA version and the addition of DKMS (Dynamic Kernel Module Support). And with the Xfce desktop environment, newer hardware will provide an exponentially better performance than you expect. With only 4 GB of RAM and 2 CPUs, MX Linux AHS ran as a virtual machine like an absolute demon. MX Linux is not limited to work on modern desktops. If you own a modern laptop, MX Linux 25.2 AHS has been specially developed for you. Also, consider that the Liquorix kernel 7.0.9-2 (the 7.07 kernel was updated immediately after installing the operating system) is a kernel with low latency, which means that it is designed to shorten the reaction time to various events such as audio, games and industrial automation. If you are a gamer or audio designer and use hardware that is 1–3 years old, MX Linux AHS may be the best distribution for you. Yes, you need to deal with a somewhat less modern desktop user interface, but the speed you gain by using Xfce is worth feeling somewhat outdated on the user interface. If you want, you can install a newer desktop environment at any time, such as KDE Plasma or COSMIC. For fun I have installed the KDE plasma desktop with:

sudo apt-get install kde-plasma-desktop - y

I wanted to see how the KDE plasma desktop behaves on the MX Linux AHS version. It took about a minute to complete the installation. After a restart, I registered with KDE Plasma (Wayland version) and found that it works just as well as Xfce (and even had the nice Conky on the desktop). If you have read my work long enough, you know that I prefer a modern desktop that looks like it was designed in the early 2000s. It is nothing against Xfce; I just want something more recent. The only thing missing from my KDE plasma installation was the usual collection of KDE plasma apps (like Discover and Console). I could solve this with:

sudo apt-get install kde-full -y

Apart from the performance, I was glad to see that KDE plasma ran perfectly. So if you want the hardware support and the low latency of MX Linux AHS, but prefer a more elegant desktop, install this operating system and then install KDE plasma over it. Who is MX Linux AHS suitable for? This question is simple: if you have a modern PC or laptop and want an operating system that works immediately, MX Linux AHS should meet all the criteria. The only criticism I could recognize is that the operating system was not delivered with pre-installed Steam. This is fine, as you can install it at any time via the command line:

MX Linux AHS is a great option for all with modern hardware. Between the Liquorix kernel 7.09, DKMS and the updated Mesa stack, your hardware is most likely supported, and if you decide to install a more modern DE, you will get an elegant, powerful and modern PC or laptop.
