Internet doesn't work. Everything is falling apart and we are hanging on to a few billionaires

The world's largest cloud is down, which means that services that rely on AWS - including Slack and League of Legends - are also reporting problems. At the same time, Microsoft 365 and Copilot also experienced outages today, suggesting that this is one of those days when the Internet simply decides to get off the ground.

AWS: Reports indicate major disruptions

According to aggregators Downdetector and Outagely, AWS is currently in a state of "major outage", i.e. a serious failure. The latest reported issues include increased errors in API Gateway services in multiple regions, although the official AWS website is not yet reporting details of the global vulnerability. AWS Health Dashboard does not indicate a new, clearly described failure at the time of going to press.

Slack: Users report problems. Worse still, you can't play LoL

The official Slack status page claims that everything is working fine. Nevertheless, AWS does have problems and some Slack functions may be slower or unstable - even if this is not yet officially confirmed. As Spider's Web, we can confirm this, because Slack is our leading work tool

It looks similar, for example, at Riot Games. According to the official status, League of Legends servers in European regions are functioning normally. However, players report problems en masse.

AWS is the backbone of a huge part of the Internet today - and not only for technology companies, but also for services that each of us knows from everyday use of the Internet. Amazon Web Services supports thousands of applications, websites and platforms, from giants to startups, often in a completely invisible way to the user.

The most recognizable services running on AWS include: Netflix, which has been using Amazon's cloud for years to stream video and analyze viewing data; Airbnb, whose entire reservation and payment infrastructure runs on AWS; Spotify, processing millions of music queries and recommendations in real time; Twitch, owned by Amazon itself; Epic Games (including Fortnite), Adobe (we confirm that Creative Cloud does not work), Pinterest, Reddit, Zoom, Dropbox, Snapchat or BBC.

In Poland, AWS is used by, among others: Allegro, InPost, Żabka, T-Mobile, 4F, PayPo and PKO BP - often as part of specific projects, such as data analysis systems, customer service automation or scaling mobile applications.

This is why every major AWS failure has a wide impact: even if the user has no idea that his favorite application runs "on Amazon", he feels the effects immediately - because Amazon's cloud is one of the pillars of the digital world today.

Microsoft 365 and Copilot: confirmed issues

Microsoft Copilot also appears to have a glitch that prevents the application from being used in both the web and desktop versions. At the same time, the Downdetector and IsDown websites today recorded another wave of reports regarding problems with Microsoft 365. This does not necessarily mean that Azure has a serious failure today - but the coincidence in time with AWS problems and reports from users of Microsoft services is at least puzzling.

For the average Internet user - and for companies - this is one of those days when cloud services remind us that they are the foundation of the modern Internet.

If the foundation shakes, the entire structure shakes. AWS, Azure, Slack, League of Legends, Microsoft 365, Copilot - these are not isolated islands. It is a network of connected vessels. If one of the large infrastructure providers has problems, the effects may be visible in hundreds of applications, even if the official statuses do not confirm this yet.

For now, we have to wait for official announcements from AWS and Microsoft. As soon as new information becomes available, we will update the topic.
