Capcoms Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake released in 2027

It's just Resident Evil: Veronica.

A remake by Resident Evil: Code Veronica appears in 2027 and so far we know one thing with certainty: it has an extremely dramatic French accent by a small old lady who has absolutely nothing to hide. OK, at least the first half of it is confirmed.

A trailer to the Code Veronica remake opened the big showcase of the Summer Game Fest 2026 and it was a nice little surprise to the opening. The remake is simply called “Resident Evil: Veronica” and looks very different from the dreamcast game in your memories. Capcom released Resident Evil: Code Veronica in 2000 and followed Claire and Chris Redfield after the events of Resident Evil 2 and 3, after the destruction of Raccoon City. It plays mainly on a prison island in Antarctica and the players control at different times in the game both Claire and Chris while trying to beat Umbrella Corp.

The tone of “Code Veronica” differs from previous “Resident Evil” parts, with a pronounced Gothic aesthetic and a disturbing psychothriller atmosphere. Capcom has taken up this direction with Resident Evil Village, which gave us 2021 Lady Dimitrescu.

Capcom has recently had a pretty upswing with the very successful releases of Pragmata, Resident Evil Requiem and Monster Hunter Stories 3 alone this year.

Check out the complete opening show for the Summer Game Fest.
