During State of Play, Sony unexpectedly announces a new God of War game: Laufey. This part focuses on Laufey, Kratos' wife and previously known as Faye. The game focuses on the afterlife. God of War Laufey will be released for the PlayStation 5, but no release date has been announced yet.
Faye dies at the beginning of 2018's God of War. In the upcoming game, she wakes up in a new world: the Everywhen. According to Santa Monica Studio, the game combines world design inspired by Norse mythology with elements of the combat system from the 'Greek era' of God of War, or the original games.
Faye is more agile than Kratos. The first gameplay footage of God of War Laufey shows that she fights a lot from the air. To do this, she combines magical powers - via the Golden Hand of the Jötnar - and a sword. The sword has a 'living' ribbon called Rue attached to it. The previous two God of War games focused on an ax and shield.
Actress Deborah Ann Woll plays Faye, having previously had a small role as the character in Ragnarök. She is known for roles in True Blood and Daredevil. In addition, The Boys protagonist Jack Quaid plays the role of a 'cosmic cube'.
No release date has been announced yet. God of War Laufey should be released 'soon' for the PlayStation 5. The game may no longer be released for the PC, unlike the previous two God of War reboot games.
