Meta recently began to install tracking software on the U.S. employee computer to capture staff mouse moves, clicks and key-button data for training the AI model as part of the firm ' s larger plan to build an AI smart body that can perform tasks automatically. The tools known as Model Capability Initiative (MCI) have generated strong opposition within the company, and some employees have launched a petition for this, with over 1,500 signatures. Anonymized employees consider the company's behaviour “very anti-Utopia”. According to an internal memorandum issued to the employee on Tuesday, Meta took a slight step back and allowed the employee to withdraw from the tracking programme for “a maximum of 30 minutes at a time” and the employee could also apply for permanent withdrawal from the tracking programme.
