According to the IT House on June 3, Microsoft has now launched a new generation of quantum chips, Majorana 2, with brand-new material stacks and a new generation of quantum bits, increasing reliability by 1,000 times over the previous generation.
It is described that Majorana 2 uses Qubit, which is 1,000 times more reliable than the previous generation. This milestone progress has been facilitated by a new material stack design and the assistance of Discovery Smart AI.
According to Microsoft technologist Chetan Nayak, Majorana 2 has a more stable topolytic phase than Majorana 1, uses lead materials to replace aluminium superconductors, and upgrades semiconductor activity areas to arsenic (IT House Note: Indium Arsenide) + Indium Arsenide Antimonide) combinations, which significantly enhances quantum-to-peer properties.
He explained that: "Majorana 1 with aluminium has a Quantum Bit life of between 1 ms and 12 ms; in Majorana 2 we raise our life to more than 20 seconds, increase stability by more than 1,000 times, and part of the bit can even reach the minute-level life."
As this progress has been significant enough, Microsoft has decided to reduce the roll-out time for the practical quantum computer prototype by half, with the sword being released in 2029.
