Seasonic and Noctua show their second joint power supply. It gets several upgrades, but the most important is OptiGuard. The power supply monitors whether the 12V-2x6 plugs become too hot or carry too much current. In the worst case, the PSU switches itself off.
The second generation Prime TX Noctua Edition power supply is based on Seasonic's enterprise platform. Seasonic uses a number of techniques specifically for business power supplies to prevent damage to video cards. The 12V 2x6 plugs that are mainly used with Nvidia RTX 50 GPUs can become far too hot under certain circumstances and, in the worst case, melt.
Seasonics new power supplies should prevent this. For example, the power supplies have better plugs in the first place. 12V-2x6 connections have six pins that handle the power supply. Normally each pin is rated for 9.2A.
Seasonic uses extra thick cables and plugs, which far exceed this specification. According to the PSU manufacturer, each pin can easily handle 12.5A without becoming too hot. The safety margin is therefore much higher than with an average 12V-2x6 plug. Seasonic showed off the plugs on the Computex show floor, although the specific Noctua version was not on display here.
OptiGuard switches off power
If something goes wrong with the cable, the OptiGuard technology is still there. It uses sensors to monitor the temperature and current of each 12V pin. If one of those two becomes dangerously high, it sounds the alarm.
For example, if one of the pins carries 13.5A or the temperature rises above 70 degrees Celsius, the power supply will start to beep. You will also receive a warning in Seasonic's software. This gives you some time to save your work and shut down your PC.
If you ignore the warning and the current reaches 15A or the temperature reaches 85 degrees Celsius, the power supply will immediately switch itself off. This causes your PC to shut down immediately, which prevents permanent damage.

Titanium efficiency and shorter housing
The upcoming Noctua power supplies are therefore based on the new Seasonic Prime Enterprise platform and offer the same specifications. They achieve Titanium-level efficiency, both with 80 Plus and Cybenetics: 94 percent at 50 percent load.
The new Noctua Edition is also slightly shorter: 180mm instead of 210mm. It must therefore fit in more housings. It also gets a newer AF-12x25 G2 fan and this time it will be available in two variants: 1300 and 1600W. The previous one was only available as a 1600W PSU.
Seasonic and Noctua expect the power supply to appear sometime in the second quarter of 2027. The suggested retail prices are not yet known.
