According to information from IT House on 3 June, according to foreign media Auto Express Local Time 3rd today, a survey launched by Peng Motors shows that European consumer acceptance of the car AI remains significantly behind. Only 13 per cent of Europeans are willing to experience auto-driving, and 70 per cent of Chinese consumers.
According to the survey, as many as 82% of European respondents said they knew AI, but only 13% were willing to take an auto-driving car without the driver taking control of the wheel. Under the design of “AI to take over the driver or make urgent decisions”, 53 per cent of respondents expressed little or no confidence in AI.
The survey covered six European countries and over 5,000 people were interviewed. The results show that up to 53% of drivers can accept self-adaptation cruises, traffic signs recognition, and driveway maintenance, which are more or less AI-dependent.
The IT House has learned from the data that there are also significant differences in attitudes among European countries. Spanish respondents are more open to automatic driving, with 63 per cent willing to take automatic driving; 34 per cent in the United Kingdom. Overall, 61% of European respondents believe that the loss of human control is one of their main concerns about AI.
Dr. Guo Hongdil, Vice-President and Managing Director of Peng Motors, said: “Europe is waiting not for more functionality, but for more access. The results of the survey show that what really changes the European perspective is that humans can still give instructions, that borders are clear and that there are proven sustainable gains.”
It is further explained that: “If AI can win European recognition, a stronger global pole can be established, as Europe's requirements for privacy, security, sustainability and accountability are among the highest in the world. The peng car's method is simple: to make AI visible, clear, and to keep the pilot in control until we win further automation."
