Project Robot by Fumito Ueda is now called gen Atlas and will also be released for PC and XBOX

Game developer Fumito Ueda, who also made Shadow of the Colossus and Ico, is working on a new game called gen Atlas. Ueda already announced in 2024 that he was working on that game, but now shows more images of it.

Fumito Ueda's studio GenDesign showed off the footage of gen Atlas during Summer Game Fest. Gen Atlas is the official name for what was previously called 'Project Robot'. Ueda teased that game in 2024, but hasn't said much about it since.

The game now appears to be in a more serious stage of development. Footage shows how a character searches for a giant robot and gets it working again. It also shows how the robot fights and the player has to shoot at crazy animals, but that also covers all the details about the game.

In any case, that robot, and especially its size, is not very surprising for Ueda. For example, he previously made cult hit Shadow of the Colossus, which also revolved around gigantic creatures. Ueda is also known for his work on The Last Guardian and Ico.

The game will not be released exclusively for the PlayStation 5, like previous games from Ueda, but also for the PC and the XBOX Series X and S. When that will happen and what exactly the game is about is still unknown. Hopefully we don't have to wait another two years for that.
