Let me explain briefly. EveryPlate is the most affordable, well-balanced hot meal service I've tested (I've tried almost all of them). At $7 per serving, it's also the only product that doesn't require any special adjustments to your grocery budget. Still, this affordable meal plan from HelloFresh can provide a dinner that even your judgmental mother-in-law will recognize as a balanced dinner.
The pork rib set meal I tried in May of this year is a type of meat and two-meal dinner that I took for granted when I was young. Pan-fried ribs. Oven-roasted Brussels sprouts with crispy leaves. Fresh mashed potatoes. But what elevated the meal from a basic staple to a weekday extravaganza was the thoughtful shallot-garlic-cream pan sauce I cooked with fresh thyme infused with the juices of freshly roasted pork. The sauce was rich, complex and flavorful, and I felt like I had stepped outside my usual repertoire and learned a useful secret.
Today was a busy Wednesday, a day that resulted in more regretful DoorDashes than plausible meal plans. The dish took 45 minutes to make, longer than most EveryPlate meals, but the process was simple. Each ingredient was pre-portioned and cooking times were pre-tested to ensure the bean sprouts, fresh mashed potatoes and ribs all arrived together. If you wanted to steam or pan-fry the bean sprouts, that was a matter for another day.
