Under pressure from public authorities, the vast majority of automobile manufacturers have switched to electric cars. Even those we least expected. This is for example the case of Rolls-Royce, which unveiled its first car of its kind at the end of 2022, the Spectre, marketed from 2023. Technical cousin of the BMW i7, this newcomer quickly met with unexpected success. And for good reason, it had become the British manufacturer's best seller. But the latter does not want to rest on his laurels, quite the contrary.
This facelift comes especially in a tense commercial context. After a great start, sales of the Specter fell by 47% in 2025, to only 1,002 copies sold worldwide, according to figures relayed by Electrek. Enough to push Rolls-Royce to beef up its electric coupe before the competition wakes up.
This is how it lifts the veil on a new version of its luxury sedan, announced in an official press release published on June 2, 2026. And the least we can say is that the firm did not do things by halves. However, the developments are imperceptible at first glance, Rolls-Royce having not touched the style on this Specter Series II. We therefore find this immense grille, the largest in the entire history of the brand. But it now offers new possibilities for personalization on board, with new Duality Twill upholstery.
The latter requires up to 2.6 million stitches, or more than 16 kilometers of thread (10 miles). New perforated leather is also arriving on the sedan for customers who wish it. The latter then offers three perforation sizes, according to the desires of buyers. The rest of the driving position is unchanged, with its two large screens in front of the driver and its head-up display. For the record, the sedan measures 5.47 meters long and 1.99 meters wide.
Rising power
But it is above all under its hood that the Rolls-Royce Specter offers the biggest changes. The electric sedan, which we were able to test, saw its power increase significantly. It offers 12 kW (approximately 16 horsepower) and 115 Nm more, to reach a total of 442 kW (601 hp) and 1,015 Nm. The torque can even climb to 1,100 Nm in Spirited mode (on the Black Badge version). The manufacturer announces 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds for the Specter Series II, and 4.3 seconds for the Black Badge. Furthermore, the Black Badge version is even stronger.
It now increases to 500 kW, or 680 hp (671 hp), for 1,100 Nm of torque in Spirited mode. This is the British firm's most efficient car. At the same time, Rolls-Royce has also increased the range of its sedan by 18%. And this thanks to “redesigned battery technology”, without further details. The car can now travel up to 628 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. The charging time is down by 14%, again without further details.
Note, however, that the vehicle retains a 400-volt architecture. But the English media Autocar indicates that it is offering the Gen6 cylindrical cells developed by its sister brand BMW, which already equip the new i7. Finally, new 23-inch rims are arriving on this version, which has not given its price. For the record, the previous one was priced from 429,000 euros. Rolls-Royce has not yet communicated the price of this Series II, but it should logically exceed the 429,000 euros of the previous version.
