RTX 5070 and 5080 SUPER again in the pipeline at Nvidia, with a twist on VRAM?

Authors

We were starting to no longer believe in it, and yet the RTX Blackwell SUPER would still be in the pipeline at Nvidia. We learned this week from the MEGAsizeGPU leaker that the RTX 5000 SUPER graphics cards would be “back on track” according to the established formula, that is to say back on track, with a new RTX 5060 equipped with 12 GB of VRAM as a bonus.

The latter, notes VideoCardz, could also be named RTX 5060 SUPER, but this is not yet certain at this stage. This model would also be included in the Nvidia catalog in addition to an RTX 5050 9 GB, also mentioned for a while. On the other hand, MEGAsizeGPU estimates that the launch of these new SUPER models would still be planned for 2026.

A “refresh” especially focused on VRAM?

As had already been anticipated, the technical specifications of these RTX 5000 SUPER would remain generally similar to those of the classic RTX 5000. The RTX 5080 SUPER would, for example, have the same number of CUDA cores as the RTX 5080. Same thing for the RTX 5070 Ti SUPER compared to its “non-SUPER” cousin. The RTX 5070 SUPER, on the other hand, would gain a little more than 200 compared to the classic RTX 5070.

In reality, these SUPER models stand out above all for their onboard video memory, as well as their increased TGP (up to 415 W for the RTX 5080 SUPER).

The latest rumors in this area, for example, report 24 GB of VRAM on the RTX 5080 SUPER and 5070 Ti SUPER, but also 18 GB of VRAM for the RTX 5070 SUPER. These different configurations would also be based on 3 GB GDDR7 modules... instead of the 2 GB modules used by current references.

This (presumed) surge in the amount of onboard video memory would alone explain the delay shown by these new SUPER models. The crisis of memory having passed this way.

Please note that this information should be taken with a lot of perspective. Nvidia is far from having made these new cards official. During its conference at Computex, the brand simply talked about AI (for a long time) then followed up with the launch of its RTX Spark chips... without saying a word about possible SUPER models. Be careful, therefore.
