The global smartphone market is entering a more pronounced adjustment phase in recent years, according to the recent SmartPoint Research Smartphone Market Outlook Tracking Report. The year-round delivery is expected to decline by 13.9 per cent to about 180 million over the same period in 2026, triggered by increased storage supply strains in recent weeks and the Iranian conflict. The data show that moving LPDDR4/5 prices in the second quarter of 2026 are expected to increase by about twice as much as in the fourth quarter of 2025, and that supply constraints are expected to continue until the second half of 2027, taking into account the high capital inputs and long delivery cycles of semiconductors. The impact on low-end equipment is more pronounced. LPDDR4 supplies are expected to contract by more than 40 per cent in 2026 as the Crystal Circle plant moves its capacity towards an AI-driven HBM and DRAM servers, resulting in a continued decrease in the cost-effectiveness of entry-level products. The global wholesale price of smartphones increased by 14 per cent in the first quarter of the year, and the upward trend will continue with the gradual digestion of prior-period stocks. The sub-markets below $150 are at risk of market phase-out.
