Sony is giving away a new game for free, on PS5 and PC. You don't need PS Plus

Sony has prepared free access to Marathon - a first-person shooter created and published by Bungie. However, it does not mean that you will receive the game forever without paying. The production will be available for a limited time.

Marathon for free all week

The game's creators decided to launch a free week with Marathon. It will start on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at 21:00 local time and will be available for the next week, until Tuesday, June 9 at 16:00. Long! Even though the production is the responsibility of Sony (actually Bungie, a Japanese studio), the game will be available for free on all platforms.

We are talking about PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and personal computers on the Steam platform. The promotion starts on the occasion of the start of the second season of the game. Marathon is a relatively new production that premiered in March this year.

A very important element of the promotion is that to play for free on consoles, you do not even need active subscriptions required for other online titles. This means that in the case of PlayStation 5, the user does not need to have active PS Plus Essentials (or a higher plan), and on Xbox Series X|S, an Xbox Game Pass subscription. The lack of such a requirement should automatically increase interest in the game.
