Star Wars: Galactic Racer, the upcoming game from the former Burnout and Need for Speed ​​developers announced at The Game Awards in December, releases on October 6. Coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. News of the release date leaked last week, and now developer Fuse Games and publisher Secret Mode have made it official. Looks like they couldn't wait until Star Wars Day on May 4th to make the announcement.

I don't know anything about this project other than the title, but zero points for guessing it's a racing game set in the Star Wars universe. That's a gimme.

The action takes place after the fall of the Galactic Empire, as an unauthorized racing circuit emerges in the outskirts of the galaxy. In single-player mode, you take on the role of a pilot named Shade, forming alliances and taking on rivals. You can choose and customize your vehicle from three types of Repulsorcraft, including the Podracer. Online multiplayer races allow you to compete against up to 11 other players.

Anyone who pre-orders Star Wars: Galactic Racer will receive a livery for that specific vehicle and a player banner background for multiplayer modes. The standard edition costs $60. The $80 Deluxe Edition includes three bonus vehicles, three arcade events to use them in, a digital art book, and more (can be upgraded from the Standard Edition).

At $160 the actual collector's edition certainly isn't cheap, but you get everything in the deluxe edition plus a very cool model of the Kor Sarun: Darc X landspeeder. The package also includes other physical items, including a physical version of the artbook, two pilot patches, a custom slipcover, and a steel case for the game.
