Steam Machine and Steam Frame

Authors

The steam engine and the steam frame will be on the market this summer.

Prices remain invisible.

Valve announced today in a completely different blog article that Steam Machine and Steam Frame officially planned to land in the summer of 2026. No information is available on the cost of the two hardware.

Valve published a major publishing window in an developer-centred blog article on Steam Machine and Steam Frame included in the Verified project, which was launched with Steam Deck to inform players about how the game works on the laptop. The validated program will perform the same operation for Steam machine and Steam frame hardware. Valve states that for Steam Machine, the requirements for authentication of the badge are almost identical to those for Steam Deck.

As for Steam Frame, Valve wrote, “Same as Steam Deck Verified, Steam Frame Standalone Verified plans to focus on the user's experience of being able to open a box under an independent model. Similar standards: The default graphic configuration needs to be well performed, text and UI elements need to be clearly readable on the built-in display screen, and the default controller configuration needs to be well aligned with the Steam Frame controller. The same test applies to VR and non-VR games.”

Since Valve released the Steam Machine, Steam Frame and Steam Control in November 2025, there have been many speculations about the cost of Valve hardware. Continuing global memory shortages have pushed up the prices of 2026 gamers and PCs, and no clear end signs are yet available. Xbox, Sony and Valve raised the prices of existing hardware product lines by hundreds of dollars each this year, of which Valve raised the prices of Steam Deck by as much as $300. Nintendo plans to follow the example of Switch 2.

The Steam controller was put on the market on May 4th for $99, which is a very reasonable price for a carefully crafted non-PC controller with a touchboard. Of course, it only has thousands of bits of memory and runs on a cool touch scream.

In other Steam news, the store home page looks a little different today. Valve has launched an update that aims to organize all confusing game advertisements through broader, more resolution images and more rapid access to details. The wish list and the DLC section have returned and there is a new personal calendar that contains more game promotions based on your game history. Discovery queues can now be viewed in the superscript layer and there is an unlimited scroll on the home page.
