Stellar Blade's slick-looking sequel is officially called Blood Rain.

Blood is pouring, hallelujah.

Among the many announcements at Summer Games Fest 2026, Shift Up revealed the sequel to its breakout hit Stellar Blade. The sequel, which we now know is called Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, is said to be set in the same universe as the first game in the series. Shift Up says it will take the world in a “bold new direction.” Blood Rain also features a new protagonist named Evie, a clear homage to Eve in the original title.

The original Stellar Blade received generally favorable reviews, earning a score of 81 from Meta critics for its combination of polished visuals and smooth combat. Blood Rain builds on these strengths, and the lengthy trailer shown during the reveal mixes extremely shiny cutscenes with flashy fight sequences, highlighted by ground-shaking hero landings that Deadpool would defy (and make his knees very hard on). True to its title, Blood Rain's enemy designs seem to fit the body horror theme perfectly. They're noticeably different from the villains of the first Souls -inspired title, and the trailer shows their transformation from humans to video game monsters in brutal detail. But you won't see a single drop of blood on the protagonist, who's wearing an incredibly shiny and uncomfortably slick skin suit.

Shift Up will self-publish the title through Sony Interactive Entertainment for the first Stellar Blade, a drastic change from previous releases. The move comes as some players balk at a period of PlayStation exclusivity for the game ahead of its PC release and Sony refocuses on exclusives holding the title back from PC.
