England was just right. Google The artificial intelligence search attacks were legally protected. Wednesday.Go.ogle announced compliance with British regulatory requirements, which require that the technology giant provide publishers with a method of choosing not to be integrated into artificial intelligence searches.
To opt out, the publisher will be able to use the new switch in the Google Search Console, a free-of-charge service that allows website owners to manage their network presence in Google search results.
Once you choose to quit, the publisher 's website will not be shown in Google 's generated AI search function, such as the AI summary, AI mode or AI summary in Discover. (Of course, Google states in the same bulletin that its AI Overviews currently has more than 2.5 billion monthly active users and its AI Mode monthly users have more than 1 billion.
The technology giant indicated that it would first test exit options with selected British publishers and then expand them globally.
The British Competition and Market Authority (CMA) claims that this initiative is “first in the world” to allow publishers to regain control of how their content is used, and notes that it would put publishers, including news agencies, in a better position to negotiate with Google on content transactions in which their content is used in artificial intelligence functions.
Last October, for the first time, the CMA designated Google as a “strategic market position”, laying the foundation for future regulation. In January, it promoted Google to allow website publishers to choose whether to aggregate their content into an artificial intelligence search or to train independent artificial intelligence models.
In addition to opting out, Google now needs to use clear links to ensure that the publisher content in the AI function is correctly attributed. Google indicated that it had also complied with this and noted that it had recently increased the number of in-links directly in artificial intelligence responses and added a preview of the website to encourage users to click.
Google noted that the decision of the website to opt out of the artificial intelligence search function would not be used as a ranking signal for traditional Google searches.
However, the company will provide new indicators in its search console to influence publishers who may be considering opting out, including impression indicators and other information on which pages appear in artificial intelligence responses and in which countries/areas. Google indicated that more indicators would be added over time.
