The China Institute of Information and Communication held a seminar on June 16th to launch the High Quality Token Service Capability Climbing Program

In order to follow up on the country's strategic deployments to promote the high-quality development of artificial intelligence and to accelerate the capacity-building of industry in high-quality Token services, the China Institute of Information and Communication Technology (CIIT) Institute of Artificial Intelligence, the Large Model of Artificial Intelligence and Software Assessment Laboratory of the Ministry of Industry and Informatics, and the China Alliance for the Development of Artificial Intellectual Industries (AIIA) Model Service (MaaS) working group will jointly convene a “Quality Token Service Seminar” in Beijing on 16 June.

It was noted that the Forum would establish a “Special Study Group on High Quality Token Services” and launch a “High Quality Token Service Capability Climbing Programme”, which would bring together industry forces to contribute to the high-quality development of Token Services by developing a systematic approach to organizational mechanisms and capacity enhancement, providing a solid base for the normative development of Token Service Industries.

IT House noted that Token characters are the smallest operating units used in large models for all information, such as text, code, image, audio, video, etc., and are becoming units of measurement, settlement and statistical units for artificial intelligence services. As of March 2026, our average daily word calls had climbed to more than 140 trillion times, a thousand times higher than the 100 billion at the beginning of 2024; even when compared to 10 trillion at the end of 2025, the increase exceeded 40 per cent in just three months.

At present, China ' s mobile, China ' s telecommunications, etc. are running token packages. China moved on May 21st to announce a national food package for Token. This time, China ' s mobile innovation introduced a unified algorithm, which incorporated different models and terminological consumption of different specifications into a standard score, with the aim of addressing the problem of inconsistent multi-model scales. According to the head of China's mobile-related services, the meal package is worth a minimum of 5 yuan a month and contains a certain number of words that are suitable for light experience. China's mobile word-set has achieved full national user coverage.

On May 17, China Telecommunications launched a series of commercial trial Token food packages, which are offered to private and family users for the third tranche of Token Plan, at a cost of $9.9, 29.9 and 49.9 per month, respectively, corresponding to 10 million Tokens, 40 million Tokens and 80 million Tokens per month.
