A new PCIe 6.0 solid-state hard drive controller, known for its solid state (Phison) was displayed today at the end of its final phase, with the group saying that the controller can read and write in sequence up to 2000MB/s and IOPS up to 6.8 million at random. The Consortium also demonstrated the performance benchmark test results for its new, non-DRAM PCIe 5.0 solid-state hard drive controller E37T, E37T, which is performance similar to that of a group of group flagship ship class controller E28, but which can be reduced by 50 per cent, and can be used to build energy-efficient and low-heating solid-state hard drives.

The Consortium states that this 16-channel X3 controller is nearing completion and can be applied to the reference solid-state hard drive design, which means that the Consortium is ready to provide samples to downstream solid-disk manufacturers for testing, and that the Consortium expects to start bulk deliveries to customers by mid-2026, i.e., the solid hard drive that will eventually carry the new controller will be on the market in about the second half of 2027.

The Consortium also presented a reference-level solid state design for a non-DRAM PS5037-E37T master control chip based on the PCIe 5.0, which was tested on a laptop, showing a sequential reading speed of 14239MB/s, a sequential writing speed of 12307MB/s, and an overall performance equivalent to the previous launch by the Consortium of an E28 flagship master control chip with DRAM.

The reference solid hard drive in random reading and writing amounts to 3 million, thanks to the use of a 4800MT/second BiCS NAND flash, and the top-level flash chips are not yet on the market, but now that the demonstration of the flash chip is already under way, it may be ready for sale soon.

In terms of reading and writing speed, E37T can provide a maximum of 14900MB/second reading and writing speed, with only 4.5 W of total effort, which is 2.5 W lower than the E28 controller equipped with DRAM, and the no DRAM design used by the consortium can reduce costs, after all, because all DRAM prices are alarmingly high, so the absence of DRAM can reduce the costs of the community and downstream solid-state hard drive manufacturers.

PS5037-E37T master control chips should also be available for the consumer-level market, i.e. there may be solid-state hard drive manufacturers based on E37T to build solid-state hard drive for the consumer-level market, and given the current supply of solid-state hard drive markets, the final sales price is estimated to be very high even if there are solid-state hard drives based on E37T chips for the consumer-level market.
