The morning after: NVIDIA believes that its new chip will revolutionize PCs
NASA also ends a Mars mission and Metamorphology is still creepy. It was a busy week as Computex and Microsoft Build were only two of the numerous major events that are currently taking place. The biggest news of both was probably NVIDIA’s brilliant announcement of its RTX Spark system on a chip ... Sorry, I mean “Superchip”. It is an integrated CPU/GPU/RAM unit like AMDs Ryzen AI Max, Qualcomms Snapdragon X2 Elite and Apple Silicon. NVIDIA says it will provide an unprecedented level of AI computing power in a low-power mobile device. RTX Spark is the portable brother of NVIDIA's existing DGX Spark AI Mini desktop, but tailored for Windows-Notebooks and desktops. It combines an ARM CPU manufactured by MediaTek with 20 cores with an integrated NVIDIA GPU with a performance similar to the RTX 5070. Users can order the system with 16 GB to 128 GB of uniform memory, and there is enough bandwidth to join the entire choir. According to NVIDIA, numerous PC manufacturers are pushing to include the RTX Spark in their equipment, especially Microsoft. It announced the Surface Laptop Ultra, a 15-inch notebook called Devindra Hardawar by Engadget as “MacBook Pro-Klon”. I'm sure he'll soon invite the Ultra to test, and we'll see if he's worth the whole hype he triggered. Dan Cooper

The Mars probe MAVEN of NASA is dead
NASA has broken off Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution (MAVEN) after losing contact with the probe. MAVEN was launched in 2013 and was originally intended to scan the Mars atmosphere for a year, but was ultimately in operation for more than a decade. It even contributed its part to help the Perseverance Rover launch its mission in 2020. Unfortunately, NASA lost contact with MAVEN at the beginning of December and after six months of silence decided to wish her all the best for their future ventures. Nintendo will launch a switch 2 with exchangeable batteries in the EU
Integrated batteries are great up to the point where they break and your device needs a costly repair or an even more expensive replacement. For this reason, the EU has laid the foundation for prescribing hardware manufacturers to build devices with batteries interchangeable by the user to reduce waste. Nintendo has announced to comply with the rules and launch a version of the Switch 2 with interchangeable cell. Unfortunately, it was not discussed in detail how this would work or when these units would come to the market, but we assume that they will sell well. Wired has found code for an unpublished facial recognition function in the AI app of Meta
It was found that code that allegedly performs a facial recognition function called “Name Tag” in the AI app of Meta slumbers. According to reports, the system is able to capture faces and inform the wearer about his identity, which raises serious concerns about privacy and ethics. Meta admitted that the technology was investigated, but said that you hadn't sent anything to the users yet and did not make a final decision on whether to use the technology. Marshall Milton ANC Review: The rare case for premium-on-ear headphones
On-ear headphones are something like the unpopular middle child of the headphone world, most attention being given to their over-ear and in-ear siblings. James Trew wants to pay some attention to the category by testing Marshall's new Milton ANC headphones. It is a first-class on-ear ANC headphone with an absolutely solid battery life, a great companion app and good sound. But you need to click through all his thoughts and read before you decide whether they are worth $ 230 of your hard earned money.
