Police haven't caught a thief stolen with a Waymo Yoga dress

Whether you believe it or not, this is not the first theft with Robotaxi support.

According to a report by SF Chronicle, a burglar with a Waymo stole some yoga clothes and seemed to have escaped unheardly. The incident occurred already in January and the suspect continues to be free.

The burglar brought a Waymo to a yoga studio in San Francisco, attacked the local and then fled with the same robot tax as the security footage described by TechCrunch. Waymo gave the suspect's account information to the authorities, but they didn't keep the police.

Interestingly, the authorities were not able to get inside the ride itself. Waymo vehicles record everything, but don't keep these recordings forever. According to reports, this had already disappeared when the police filed a search warrant in April. The police could not identify the suspect on the basis of the vehicle’s external camera footage, as they were “sharp” for data protection reasons.

These may be good news for people who are worried about the long-term surveillance capabilities of Waymo vehicles, although we still have some questions about when the company deletes old film material. Engadget has turned to Waymo and asked for clarification of this matter and the blurred outer camera material.

Strangely, this isn't the first time a baptism has decided for a Waymo to help in committing a crime. Someone used one of the company's vehicles as a fleee car after he attacked a grocery store. This person was captured almost immediately.
