Airports in Krakow and Poznań have had modern scanners for a long time. The rest of the country is announcing similar investments. The Gdańsk airport ordered equipment to make life easier for travelers at the beginning of the year. At that time, it was announced that the devices would start working in July.
The latest generation of EDSCB C3 scanners (Explosive Detection Systems for Cabin Baggage, C3 standard) allows you to inspect hand luggage using computed tomography technology. It obtains 3D images, thanks to which hand luggage can contain portable computers and other large electrical devices as well as liquids, aerosols and gels (with a single package capacity of up to 2 liters). This technological solution will significantly speed up and facilitate security checks at airports, while increasing the detection of threats - it was reported in January.
- The implementation in July 2026 of the first scanners for cabin baggage inspection using computed tomography technology is an important element of the modernization process of the Gdańsk Airport. Modern devices will allow for more efficient and effective security control, and at the same time will raise the airport to a higher level of technological development. This is an investment that strengthens the standard of passenger service and confirms our consistent efforts to develop airport infrastructure - commented Tomasz Kloskowski, President of the Gdańsk Airport.
Ultimately, Gdańsk wants to have 12 such scanners.
Usually, the procedures take longer and the original deadlines have to be moved. Here we are also dealing with a date change, but in the opposite direction. A pleasant surprise.
Radio Gdańsk reports that two devices, which, according to previous announcements, were to be operational from July, are already being tested. The radio station suggests that devices may start checking travelers' luggage earlier. This means that flights from Gdańsk will be slightly more comfortable, because you will not have to take out your electronics, and you will take more liquids on board.
The limits no longer apply at the airport in Rzeszów
The fly4free.pl website informs about the changes. Procedures were also accelerated there. Previously, it was assumed that parting with 100 ml - and this is the limit in force under the old rules - would only be possible in the fall. Meanwhile, even before the summer peak, passengers received this convenience.
Warsaw Chopin Airport is still waiting for new regulations, but the holiday deadline is unlikely to be met in the capital. Two scanners will arrive in the capital in June, but one pair is not enough to introduce major changes.
- We are concerned that the possible abolition of the liquid limit at two stands will result in passengers heading there primarily. This will mean that instead of reducing queues in the hot summer season, we will only increase them - PPL representatives tell fly4free.pl.
The liquid limit at the Warsaw airport is to be lifted at the end of the year, when the airport will have all scanners at its disposal.
