Screenless Camp Snap 2 comes with more slim and more filters

After expanding its product range into video with the CS-8, inspired by retro Super 8mm film cameras from Kodak and Canon, Camp Snap is going back to its roots. Camp Snap 2 is the sequel to the company's first screenless digital point-and-shoot camera, updating the original with a slimmer design, faster performance, out-of-the-box filters, and new features that make it easier for kids to use.

The screenless Camp Snap 2 is thinner and offers more filters.

It features the same 8-megapixel sensor as the original, but introduces a new transparent retro color option.

The Camp Snap 2 is available starting today through the company's online store for $69.95, the same price as the original. Moving forward color options include Stealth Black, Chestnut Brown, Arctic White, Forest Green, and Sunbeam Yellow, but even more attractive are five new clear case options that give the camera an even more retro feel.

The Camp Snap 2 doesn't have a sensor upgrade, you're still limited to 8 megapixels, and the camera only captures JPEG images. Prioritize ease of use and sharing over facilitating post-processing. If you want the ability to easily shoot without a screen, you should upgrade to the 16-megapixel Camp Snap Pro.

One of the Pro features carried over to Camp Snap 2 is more bundled filters. There are now six available out of the box, including a vintage look and black and white, all accessible via a dedicated button. With the addition of a 30.5mm thread to the lens, you can now also attach physical filters to further improve photo quality. But now that size is not as common as it used to be.

Other improvements include a 15% slimmer housing than the Camp Snap V1 and a battery-saving sleep mode that wakes the camera as soon as you press the shutter button. For parents purchasing the Camp Snap 2 as a first camera for their child, the new Camp Lock feature disables the built-in filter and has a screw on the memory card door to make it more difficult to access or prevent it from being accidentally opened.
