The Steam Machine and the Steam Frame are postponed, again, but the release is becoming clearer

Authors

You can stop refreshing Steam every night to get news about the Steam Machine: it won't come out right away.

Valve's new game console is still paying the price for a change in calendar. While it was originally targeting a release for the beginning of 2026, Valve is now announcing a new period.

What date and what price?

In an article published on Friday June 5 regarding the “Verified for the Steam Machine” program, Valve announced:

Today, we're expanding the Verified program to include the Steam Machine and Steam Frame, both available this summer.

The manufacturer is now promising a summer release for both the Steam Machine and the Steam Frame, the standalone virtual reality headset.

The brand does not venture to give a more precise date, nor to announce the prices of the two machines. Remember that this is the great unknown, in particular because of the RAM crisis which has caused prices to inflate. Valve recently adjusted the price of the Steam Deck, and the bill really hurts the wallet.

If we stick to this new schedule, the wait should soon come to an end. For those who are impatient, summer 2026 officially begins on Sunday June 21 and ends on Wednesday September 23.

It is impossible to predict exactly when Valve will launch its console, especially since the brand is completely free since it controls the only distribution channel: Steam.

However, we can imagine the brand aiming instead either for the end of June, when the period is still for the “E3” conferences, or the end of August, as Gamescom approaches.
