Here's Apple's Siri overhaul for iOS 27.

Apple is reportedly redesigning the iPhone interface around the new Siri.

After nearly two years of delays and a $250 million settlement, Apple is preparing to reintroduce the new Siri at WWDC 2026. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman revealed an early preview of the update with an illustration that gives a glimpse into how Apple redesigned the iPhone's interface to bring Gemini-based AI agents to the fore. “Companies often test multiple feature designs internally, and the final version released to the public in June may vary,” Gurman warned, before saying Apple could launch a new Siri as early as this September.

As you can see in the illustration shared by Bloomberg, Siri will now live inside a dynamic island on your iPhone. As before, you can wake the Assistant by saying “Siri” or pressing and holding your phone’s power button. However, Apple also allows users to swipe down from the top center of their iPhone to bring up a new "Search or Ask" interface that incorporates elements of the existing search interface found in iOS 26. Here you'll see existing standby features like Siri Suggestions, a list of eight recommended apps, along with new elements. Gurman suggested that Apple would allow people to use the interface to launch apps, start text messages, add calendar appointments, search for notes, and more. “The results are displayed in rich text cards that pop out of Dynamic Island,” he explains. “Users can swipe down to open a chatbot-style conversation within the Siri app.” Gurman reported that Apple is considering giving users the option to access other AI services through this new interface, including ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.

With the new arrival of Siri, users will need to pull down the top left corner of their phone to access Notification Center. Apple will also offer a dedicated Siri app designed to compete with ChatGPT and Claude. The software allows users to talk to Siri through text and voice, and also supports uploading photos and documents. And like other chatbots, you can browse your conversation history to continue previous chats.

Naturally, Apple also has plans to integrate Siri deeper into its Camera and Photos apps. Designed to replace the company's existing Visual Intelligence feature, the new dedicated mode allows people to take photos and search them using Google reverse image search. Users can also leverage third-party AI agents for photo analysis. Apple will reportedly be offering new "Reframe" and "Expand" tools in the Photos app that, as the names suggest, will allow you to change the perspective of an image or use AI to create visual elements beyond the photo frame.

Powering all these new features is a smarter Siri that can search the web and complete tasks based on screen context and your personal information. “Apple's planned interface will allow you to ask for appointment times before scheduling and even allow for overlapping events,” says Gurman. Earlier this year, Apple confirmed reports that it planned to use Google's Gemini model to support a new version of Siri. Following the company's now-infamous WWDC 2024 presentation, The Information reported that the Siri demo the company showed off at the conference was closer to an elaborate concept video.
