The Bihar police on Wednesday (June 3, 2026) arrested three people, including the director of a coaching institute, in connection with the stone-pelting and vandalism at educator Faisal Khan’s coaching centre in Patna.
The incident took place at Khan Global Studies in the Kadamkuan police station area on Tuesday (June 2, 2026) night. Mr. Khan, popularly known as “Khan Sir”, alleged that people associated with a rival coaching institute were behind the attack.
Kanhaiya Singh of Khan Global Studies filed a First Information Report (FIR) against four named individuals and 15-20 unidentified persons. A guard of the coaching centre was allegedly assaulted during the incident and sustained a head injury. He is undergoing treatment at the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH).
Rajesh Ranjan, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Nagar-1 (Patna), said, “Police received information around 10:10 p.m. on Tuesday that some individuals pelted stones, vandalised and allegedly fired shots at Khan Global Studies. Based on the FIR, the police have arrested Roshan Anand, director of Gyan Bindu, along with two others, Gaurav and Abhishek. They are being sent to judicial custody. The identities of the remaining accused have also been established.”
In a separate press statement, City Police Superintendent (Central, Patna) said inquiries with local people and CCTV footage revealed that 15 to 20 individuals associated with Gyan Bindu Coaching Institute carried out the attack.
“No confirmation of any firing was found upon review of the CCTV footage. Raids are being conducted, and further legal action is underway for the arrest of the accused involved in the incident,” the SP said.
Addressing reporters after the incident on Tuesday night, Mr. Khan said, “Some anti-social elements from a nearby coaching centre carried out widespread damage, beat our guard badly and even fired gunshots. Their anger is how can someone teach students at such a low cost and still deliver good results each year.”
On Wednesday, Mr. Khan said, “Police investigation is underway. Once the findings come in, we will get to know what exactly happened. We are not sitting here prepared for any fight or quarrel over what happened or not.”
He said appropriate security arrangements were made throughout the night and urged the Bihar Chief Minister to ensure continued deployment of personnel, citing the large number of economically weaker students enrolled at the institute.
Meanwhile, Roshan Anand denied the allegations and claimed attempts were being made to malign him and his coaching institute.
Reacting to the incident, Bihar Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari said the State government would formulate a policy within the next three months to prevent rivalry among coaching institutes from disturbing law and order.
