Our policies regarding children under 13 — COPPA Compliance
Important Notice to Parents
aimode.news is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe your child has provided personal information, contact privacy@aimode.news immediately.
1. Our Policy on Children’s Data
aimode.news LLC does not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal information from children under 13. Our Service is designed for adults and professionals. We do not:
- Target our Service to children under 13;
- Collect personal information through means directed to children;
- Allow children under 13 to register for accounts;
- Display advertising directed to children;
- Offer games or content designed to attract children.
2. Data We May Inadvertently Collect
- Automatically collected: IP address, browser type, pages visited, analytics data from all visitors.
- Voluntarily provided: If a child registers, posts a comment, subscribes to newsletter, or contacts us.
- MCP API data: Query metadata if a child uses our MCP server via an AI agent.
3. Parental Consent Requirements
Because our Service is not directed to children, we are not required to obtain parental consent as a matter of course. However, if we become aware that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will:
- Immediately cease further collection from that child;
- Delete the child’s personal information from active systems within 10 business days;
- Delete from backups within 30 days;
- Notify service providers who may have received the information;
- Implement additional screening to prevent future collection.
4. COPPA Safe Harbor Compliance
While we do not participate in a COPPA safe harbor program, our practices are consistent with COPPA requirements:
- Notice: This page provides clear information about our data practices regarding children.
- Consent: We do not knowingly collect from children under 13. If practices change, we would obtain verifiable parental consent.
- Access and deletion: Parents may review and request deletion (see Section 5).
- Security: Reasonable security measures as described in our Privacy Policy.
- Data retention: We do not retain children’s data; inadvertent collection is deleted promptly.
5. How Parents Can Review and Delete Data
Parents/guardians have the right to review, delete, and refuse future collection of their child’s personal information.
How to Submit a Parental Request
- Email privacy@aimode.news with subject “COPPA Parental Request”;
- Provide your full name and relationship to the child;
- Provide the child’s name and email/account info they may have used;
- Verify identity as parent/guardian (signed consent form, government ID with info redacted except name/photo, or verified email);
- Specify whether you want to review, delete, or both;
- We process deletion within 10 business days, review within 30 days.
6. Information We Never Collect
- Precise geolocation (street address level);
- Photographs or videos;
- Audio recordings;
- Social security or government ID numbers;
- Biometric data;
- School or educational institution information;
- Health or medical information;
- Persistent identifiers combined with PII for behavioral advertising to children.
7. Third-Party Services
- Google Analytics: IP anonymization enabled, data sharing disabled, not used for behavioral advertising.
- Giscus (Comments): Requires GitHub authentication. GitHub requires users to be at least 13.
- Stripe (Payments): Only available to registered users who agreed to Terms requiring age 18+.
